Making maple syrup from the sap of the maple tree is an old tradition in Vermont. In early spring, you’ll watch a farm family gather sap with their giant percherons hauling the sweet liquid on sleds in the snow. After hours of boiling down the sap, delicious maple syrup is ready for morning pancakes.

You’ll hear the story of Justin Morgan and how his favorite horse, Figure, started the first American breed, the Morgan Horse. This video visits the National Museum of the Morgan Horse, the UVM Morgan Horse Farm, and Taproot Morgan Horse Farm.

When the railroad came to Vermont, competition for this new transportation system was fierce. You’ll hear the story of the railroad men, their battles for power, and their influence in the state.

More stories of the underground railroad, the granite industry, and mineral springs are part of this video, along with a band concert, jack-o-lanterns and covered bridges.
